I am also a WOW player. I've been playing the game since beta and it is the best game I have ever played. I didn't think of myself as being an addictive personality but it did happen to me. It actually started with a game called Counter Strike. I would race home everyday to finish my night off playing this game. This went on for about 2 years. Then, I became addicted to Asheron's Call 2. For the past 2 years I have thought of nothing better than to play World of Warcraft. I realized at one point a few months ago that it had to stop or atleast I needed to cut back and so I have. I would neglect daily chores, cancel or rearrange my schedule with work and friends just so I could play. I am at stage in my life right now that I can just sign on for about an hour and think that is enough. The game is great and I have met a great bunch of people and the people is what keeps me from not cancelling my account. Atleast now I can enjoy the simple things and still manage a personal life. Just thought I'd share a little of my experience.

I wouldn't let it deter you either. The percentage of players that have problems like this are (I'm assuming) relatively low. I definitely think you should give it a try, you'll have a lot of fun. As a matter of fact, I have every intention of buying and playing the expansion pack when it comes out in November.

Let me know if you guys end up playing.

I read that article too and was intrigued. Dan and I have been talking about signing up for WoW for a while now and we have heard all these horror stories, but it makes for great reading when someone writes about their experience first hand. I don't think I will let it deter me, but it will definitely be something that I will be aware about. It would be interesting to really take a look at these people who are addicted to WoW and see waht they have in common with others who are addicted to something. There is such a thing as an addictive personality and it would be interesting to see if that is a factor here.
