Kev, sorry I didn't see your comment until now. I think we spoke since then though. I got them at Marathon Sports in Welessley, MA. I did try them on and had a hell of a time getting them on the first time.

Scott, it may be because you are landing on your heels still. Have you tried a mid/fore foot strike? It's definitely awkward at first and I felt a little silly, but I got used to it in about a week. I switched to the Vibrams specifically because my hamstrings and knees we starting to ache and so far so good. My calves constantly need to be stretched though, or they'll tighten up. Anyways, you sound like an experienced runner so I don't have to tell you to take it easy. There is nothing worse than an injured hamstring. Good luck. I'd love to hear if it gets any better/worse for you.

I am trying to get used to my five fingers. I have put about 30 miles on them last week (my first week of owning them). I appreciated your advice of the stride change. I have still been landing on my heels while wearing them. I didn't subconciously change my stride like ihave heard others do. My feet have adjusted. However, my hamstrings are KILLING me. In my thirty some years of running my hammys have never hurt like this. I hope it subsides soon!

Where did you end up getting these? I've been interested in these, probably ever since I heard you talk about them. Supposedly, they are also good for walking and hiking, although the KSO model may have a sole more geared towards hiking. Did you get them online? There are a few stores in RI. Did you try them on before purchasing so that you got the right fit?
