Hi Bram,

I feel your pain. I got my account back about two weeks after I lost it. I'm still not sure why I lost it or how I got it back, but the advice that was given to me was to keep submitting the account recovery form, over and over again, and eventually you would get an actual human being. I also plastered my problem all over the net, i.e., Twitter, getsatisfaction.com, Facebook, Google support forums. I figured eventually someone would see it. So I'm not sure which actually worked, my constant submissions of the recovery form or the fact that I posted my plight everywhere I went. --or maybe something else all together.

Your problem seems slightly different then mine, then again I haven't seen any two exactly alike. I don't know what they mean by "edit the emails associated with my account". How is that even possible?

Sorry i couldn't be anymore help, I'm still in the dark myself. I would definitely keep submitting the forms though. Good luck.

Hi Robert,

I'm currently experiencing the exact same problem as you experienced. I submitted all the relevant info and received the same ridiculously unhelpful computer-generated email responses, except I've now gotten an email saying that my account can be "returned" to me, but my "former username" is now associated with another Google account. I'm supposed to log on to my google account (which is not recognized as existing) and edit the emails associated with my account.
As you've documented, this whole process is crazy. If you have any advice, I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks,
Bram

Hey Matt, I got my account back. I'm still not sure exactly what happened though. There's definitely a chance I got hacked, which would be humbling since I'm a security / encryption nerd. Nothing seems to be out of order and it doesn't look like any mail was sent from my account. I plan on going through ALL my Google accounts to see if anything looks weird.

BTW, do you SSH from your Pre or from your Droid?

Well, I haven't had that happen yet but yesterday my Palm Pre gave me a message of Just Restart or erase all data, all by it's self it factory defaulted back to day one. I have an idea it might have been Verizoned as I had hacked it so I could do some remote SSH stuff on my server along with add patches.. while it was restarting all my icons on my Droid by Motorola decided to disappear, took a reboot to get them all back.

As for google sounds like possibly someone hacked the account and then deleted it? it's rather difficult the say why or how or when and even harder to reach Google folks. Let me know how that works out.
